Chika-WU is an artist based in Taiwan. Wu has been devoting herself in art activities at a very young age. She was awarded the first prize in National Student Art Competition, which is the largest competition in Taiwan. Wu had specialized in graphic design, then switched her path to fine art. She studied in Musashino Art University and graduated with a degree in Japanese Fine Art. She also has a very strong skill of Chinese ink painting and Calligraphy. Today the world we live in is a mixture of eastern and western, the reality and the illusion, the contemporary and the past. Chikawu’s artworks try to express the conflict between these concepts. She uses gold leaf to express the passing of time and Chinese ink-wash technique to bring out the different worldview of oriental painting.
