Emma Skinner is a British born artist, she earned a BSc from Durham University, a diploma in Naturopathy, Photography accreditation and family mentorship in the study of Fine Art. Her visual narrative and free diving expeditions explore the human experience of the ocean; the importance of realising change and highlighting failing ecosystems. She is currently working on a series of paintings depicting an imminent destruction of the ocean and its ecosystem. Her pieces speak of the interconnecting natural world which is out of balance due to the human parasitic drive for consumerism at any cost.
Emma donates 20% of sales to Plastic Bank of every original painting. Each sale makes the buyer Plastic Neutral for the year. Plastic becomes an economic resource for developing countries by monetizing waste. This solution prevents the flow of plastic into the ocean as well as removing it. My goal is to create art inspired by the ocean; create meaning by giving plastic waste value and in turn inspire someone else who then owns a beautiful painting and feels they made a difference.
