Wood carving / Cherry tree, Gold / 25×15×15cm
The Dainichi Nyorai is a Buddhist statue sculpted as a symbol of space itself. I made it in the image of the light of outer space.
Myogen Yasuda: After graduating from a fine arts high school, became the top disciple of Myokei Masumoto. From then he worked prolifically as a sculptor of Buddhist images for more than 40 years, producing such works as the many Buddhist statues of Saimyoji Temple in Tokushima Prefecture. In recent years, from a desire to "give even laypersons more exposure to Buddhist sculptures," he held a personal exhibition of his art at the Takashimaya department store in Nihombashi, Tokyo, and has been taking many commissions from private individuals. His work was selected for the Shiga Prefecture Art Exposition, and won the "Chugai Nippo Award" at the Kyoto Buddhist Sculpture Exhibition, and he has won the "Master Artisan of Omi" award.
