Kusaba Kazuhisa, based on traditional Japanese Arita ware (Aritayaki), established 'Tohsaiga,' a painted pottery style involving repeated glazing and firing, in 1990. He continues to research and create works seeking delicate colors and shine, with 'life' as his theme. His works, using motifs like dragons, mythology, and flowers, change in color and sparkle depending on the angle, expressing the diversity of life's beauty. The motifs of my exhibited works - Mount Fuji, flowers, and dragons - embody the preciousness of life for me. I feel a connection with myself and awe for nature in the majestic form of Mount Fuji, inspiration in the flowers blossoming fully, and admiration for the dragon, a powerful mythical creature. Their vibrant life is expressed through the sheen of pottery and the subtlety of hues achieved through multiple firings, changing into a spectrum of colors depending on the angle.
