A Journey Through the Art of Alena Zvereva
From a graphic designer to managing Russia’s largest textile factory cluster, and later leading design and production teams for a Paris Fashion Week brand, my journey has been a tapestry of creativity and leadership. In 2018, I returned to my true passion—painting. Starting with watercolours and transitioning to oils, I now channel my experiences, motherhood, and global travels into my art. Inspired by masters like Rosie Sanders and Ivan Aivazovsky, my work explores life’s abundance, unity with the universe, and the balance of light and darkness. Join me at World Art Dubai as I share my vibrant perspective on life through my paintings.
Rose Labyrinth
Each rose petal, like human life, opens up as an elegant labyrinth, attracting us inside with its beauty and mystery. Growing buds around symbolize the fact that next to a formed beauty there is always a young shoot, which will continue the work of the large rose, continue bringing the beauty as the rose bush will always be renewed by new shoots. Though this beauty appears fragile and fleeting, it is endlessly renewed. Though it has blossomed, it still blooms, smells, and continues to carry its beauty and emotions that others receive from it. Like new shoots, new ideas will appear nearby and will update the rose bush.
As Silent as the Still Ocean
Here, the sunset is like a time cutoff in which you can take a stock of the achievements of this day and anticipate tomorrow and what you can do next. The mind can go as silent as the still ocean, where the horizon, like the possibilities in life, stretches endlessly. Spread your wings like a seagull, direct your ship into the future, feel the freedom and act.
The Waves Roll In
This picture is about the fact that no matter how big or small the wave is, it is a part of one body of water. Each person is alike to the wave, it is always present, and it always embodies both strength and grandeur just by being, as well as showing the beauty and power in each movement. Flowing from one wave to another, it continues this infinity that it gains while forming. Likewise, each personality is also infinite, because it also comes from the void and goes into the void, for we do not know where it begins or ends. The wave rolls in and then returns to the general water state from below. Regardless of the amount of effort or lack thereof the wave and the water just are.
There is a feeling that the wave understands what it is doing and why it is happening, and at the same time, the general water structure prompts it to all these movements. What exactly will happen is always factors in time, for there’s endless movement. The wave, although formed, always has other waves forming and falling around nearby, which may have preceded this wave. On the left the wave is moving away, indicating that another wave is already rolling in. The cycle is infinite.
Where Grace Meets Introspection
A ballerina rests in a moment of stillness, embodying a delicate balance between effort and serenity. The flowing folds of her dress reflect her graceful posture as if capturing the quiet exhalation of her performance. Light streams through the background, bathing her in a warm glow that contrasts with the cool, calm hues surrounding her. This painting explores the ephemeral beauty of calm after exertion, where grace meets introspection. It conveys not only the physical elegance of the ballerina but also the emotional depth of her moment of pause – a celebration of resilience and artistry.
Light in every darkness
This picture is about the fact that even against the background of a dark world there are always luminous elements, they can be fragile like glass, they can be tender like lilies of the valley, monumental and confident like porcelain vases, they can be as light as fabric. The painting conveys that light doesn’t disappear, as it is carried in the objects that are in the dark. Darkness gives us the opportunity to recognize the light, where the backdrop is not that of the dark world, but of the moments of darkness.
