Aylal Heydarova Brings “Saving Butterflies” to World Art Dubai: An Intersection of Art, Conservation, and Compassion
Known for her distinctive vision and thought-provoking work, Azerbaijani artist Aylal Heydarova made a meaningful
appearance at World Art Dubai this year, captivating visitors with her unique Saving Butterflies charity project. Over
three inspiring days at the art fair, Heydarova exhibited seven miniature butterfly sculptures, each hand-painted,
carrying deep symbolism and a powerful environmental message.
The collection, which draws on the delicate beauty of butterflies, was made entirely from sustainably sourced
wood—highlighting Heydarova’s commitment to eco-conscious materials. Each sculpture represented not just aesthetic
appeal but a call to action: to protect fragile ecosystems and the rights of the most vulnerable in society.
Aylal’s Saving Butterflies initiative merges two critical themes—wildlife conservation and human rights
advocacy—exploring the parallels between endangered species and displaced individuals seeking refuge. Through her public
art installations and participatory projects, Heydarova raises awareness of how habitat loss, environmental crises, and
forced migration are interlinked.
This latest showcase in Dubai resonated deeply, reinforcing the fair’s broader mission of using art as a catalyst for
social change. The seven butterflies, all uniquely colored and positioned, created a visual metaphor for diversity and
resilience, reminding viewers of the urgent need to nurture both nature and humanity.
