Brush & Soul: Cesar Mammadov and Ayan Aziz Mammadova Represent Azerbaijan at World Art Dubai
This year at World Art Dubai, artists Cesar Mammadov and Ayan Aziz Mammadova took part in the international art fair
for the first time, showcasing their work together under the booth name Brush & Soul. Representing their home
country of Azerbaijan, the two artists brought their personal styles and cultural stories to the spotlight, and
quickly drew attention for their fresh, honest, and expressive approach to art.
The booth featured a mix of both artists’ works, reflecting their individual visions while also sharing a strong
connection to their roots. Visitors had a chance to explore two very different perspectives—one focused on the quiet
beauty of everyday life, the other on emotion and symbolism through bold color and abstract forms.

Cesar Mammadov: Finding Beauty in the Everyday
Cesar Mammadov is known for his figurative paintings that capture small, meaningful moments. His works often show daily life—people walking, sitting in cafés, boats on the water—painted with calm and precision. Raised in an artistic family and influenced by his father, the well-known Azerbaijani painter Sakit Mammadov, Cesar brings a thoughtful and grounded style to his work.
His use of light and perspective shows scenes from cities like Paris, Venice, and Baku in a new way—often from above or through rain-covered windows. These pieces feel familiar, yet poetic. Water appears often in his paintings, representing life and reflection. For Cesar, painting is about slowing down and appreciating the simple moments we usually pass by.
Ayan Aziz Mammadova: Culture, Color, and Emotion
Ayan Aziz Mammadova’s work brings a completely different energy to the booth. Her paintings are expressive and full of color, inspired by Azerbaijani traditions and symbols like the pomegranate and the evil eye. Raised in Baku and surrounded by artists from a young age, Ayan developed a unique style that blends abstract elements with cultural storytelling.
Her paintings are emotional and bold, often created with mixed media and full of movement. Each piece carries a strong sense of femininity, strength, and rhythm. Ayan’s work explores inner feelings, heritage, and the energy of color—and at the fair, her pieces stood out for their vibrant, powerful presence.
A Meaningful First Experience
World Art Dubai was a special experience for both artists—it was their first time exhibiting there, and they were happy to share their art and stories with a new international audience. Brush & Soul allowed them to bring a piece of Azerbaijan to Dubai, showing how personal and cultural identity can come together through art.
They received great feedback and made new connections with people from all over the world. For Cesar and Ayan, this was just the beginning of many more global exhibitions to come—and a proud moment of sharing who they are through their work.
